On 1 September 2026, a special lecture on “Somnath Swabhiman Parv” was organized by the Department of History at S.D. College for Women, Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. Vandana Shukla.![]()

The nation is observing “Somnath Swabhiman Parv” to commemorate the completion of 75 years of the reconstruction of the historic Somnath Temple, one of India’s renowned cultural and historical landmarks. As part of this initiative, Ms. Salwinderjeet Kaur, faculty member of the Department of History, delivered a special lecture to acquaint the students with the historical, cultural and national significance of the Somnath Temple.![]()

On this occasion, Sandeep Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur, students of B.A. Final Year, presented their views and shared detailed information about the glorious history of the Somnath Temple, its reconstruction, and its significance in India’s rich cultural heritage. Through their impressive presentations, the students connected the audience with the country’s remarkable historical and cultural legacy.![]()

Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Vandana Shukla, the Second Voter Registration Camp was successfully organized on 31-08-2026 at S.D. College for Women, Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, by the SVEEP Department in collaboration with the NSS Department.![]()

The camp was organized under the supervision of SVEEP Incharge Madam Sunita Kaler, with the objective of encouraging eligible students to register themselves as voters and creating awareness about the importance of voting in a democratic society.![]()

During the camp, Form No. 6 for new voter registration was filled for eligible students by SVEEP Incharge Madam Sunita Kaler with the assistance of N.S.S volunteers. The students were also guided about the voter registration procedure and the important documents required for registration.![]()

The initiative aimed to encourage young and first-time voters to actively participate in the democratic process and understand their rights and responsibilities as responsible citizens.![]()
